Cameron Mitchell Restaurants, a nationally renowned restaurant group known for providing unforgettable dining experiences, faced a modern challenge: scaling secure, high-performance network infrastructure across 74 unique locations while maintaining operational excellence. Led by Orlando Sprockel, Senior Director of IT, the company turned to managed services provider Logically to design and execute a full network and security transformation—featuring an enterprise-grade Extreme Networks deployment and SonicWall firewalls.
The result: dramatically improved wireless performance, greater security visibility and control, and a more flexible, scalable environment to support continued growth.
With rapid expansion and an increasing reliance on digital tools and guest Wi-Fi, Cameron Mitchell’s existing infrastructure—based on Cisco Meraki switches and access points — struggled to keep up. Cameron Mitchell’s environment was a Cisco Meraki shop (APs, firewalls, small business switches) but it struggled to do fine-grained configuration between APs—especially important as the business evolved. The company had also transitioned from a wired, on-prem POS system to Toast, which is wireless-first and requires reliable Wi-Fi coverage. These changes left Cameron Mitchell facing a defined set of challenges that, with Logically's guidance, pointed to the appropriate Extreme Networks solution:
To modernize its infrastructure, Cameron Mitchell partnered with Logically to deliver a consistent, secure, and flexible network foundation across all 74 locations—built on Extreme Networks switches and APs for network performance, and SonicWall firewalls for advanced security.
The company is currently transitioning from Cisco Meraki APs and switches to a standardized infrastructure powered by Extreme’s cloud-managed networking solutions to simplify and scale operations, including:
Collectively this modernization has powered better wired and wireless network bandwidth, performance and visibility.
“Every restaurant has different needs and layout challenges. Extreme’s predictive analytics and unified visibility helped us deploy APs more intelligently. Now we have stronger signal strength where it matters most—and no accidental coverage outside the venue.”
Orlando Sprockel
Senior Director of IT, Cameron Mitchell Restaurants
Thanks to Extreme’s open architecture and Logically’s hands-on support, Orlando’s team now benefits from flexible co-management and tailored configurations:
“It’s not just plug-and-play. We can customize everything for each restaurant. And with Logically and Extreme, we’re never flying blind—we always have the tools, support, and visibility we need.”Orlando Sprockel
The modernization effort also included replacing aging firewalls with SonicWall TZ470. This provided:
Logically helped configure firewall rules and coordinate with third-party platforms to ensure PCI compliance across the enterprise.
The partnership between Logically, Extreme, and SonicWall provided the granular wireless control enabling Cameron Mitchell to balance strong operational connectivity with security and guest boundaries. Additional results included:
Cameron Mitchell’s IT team is investing in training and sandbox environments to become even more self-sufficient on Extreme’s platform, while continuing to rely on Logically as a strategic partner for support and innovation.
In July 2025, Cameron Mitchell proudly opened a new restaurant, Big Rock Italian Chop House in Birmingham, MI, featuring the new network and security configuration from Extreme Networks and SonicWall.
